Turning point: Charlie Combs and Tyler Weiss each scored in the opening 94 seconds and the South Carolina Stingrays went on to defeat the Jacksonville Icemen 4-1 in Sunday’s ECHL hockey at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Penalty box: The game included four fights, and South Carolina’s Blake Thompson (for aggressor) and Ryan Hofer (for a boarding major) each received game misconduct penalties.

Around the rink: Bennett MacArthur tallied the only goal for the Icemen (38-18-5-1). … Justen Close saved 33 shots in the Jacksonville net. … For league-leading South Carolina (43-14-3-2), Alexander Suzdalev and Josh Wilkins also scored. … The Icemen received 41 penalty minutes and the Stingrays 61.
