Jalen Ramsey is staying in Miami as the top-paid cornerback in the league. The Miami Dolphins cornerback has agreed to a three-year, $72.3 million extension, keeping him in Miami through 2028, per multiple reports.

The new deal makes the 29-year-old the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL, receiving $24.1 million per year. Per multiple reports, Ramsey will receive $55.3 million guaranteed as part of the deal.

Ramsey’s deal jumps just ahead of Patrick Surtain II, who reset the cornerback market on Wednesday. Surtain receives $24 million annually under his $77.5 million deal, the most for any defensive back in NFL history.

Per reports, Ramsey’s extension has been in the works for a few weeks, with NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reporting that Ramsey and the Dolphins agreed on the deal a few days ago.

Ramsey reportedly wanted to wait until he returned to practice before announcing the deal. The cornerback has been sidelined for a few weeks with a hamstring injury, but appears set to practice today if the details of the extension have been released.

Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowler, joined the Dolphins in 2023 off a trade with the Los Angeles Rams. Ramsey had signed a five-year, $105 million extension with the Rams in 2020, which Miami adopted in the trade.

He was injured in training camp last summer, but returned in October 2023 and was named to the Pro Bowl for his seventh consecutive season off his partial-season performance. Ramsey racked up 18 solo tackles and three interceptions in just 10 games with Miami.

The Dolphins start the season with a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Ramsey is currently marked as “questionable” for that game on the Miami injury report.
